About this Episode

Black Lives Matter Notes:
Here are some good resources and places to donate funds to support the Black Lives Matter Protests:
I found this website really helpful for figuring out how to help, and how to understand what defunding the police means, and why it is a good idea.

“The Southern Poverty Law Center is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality.”

The Minnesota Freedom Fund has received lots of donations and continually updates their website with good organizations to donate to:

Also use this resource to find your representatives:

Call and tell them you hold them accountable for Racial injustice and ask them to demilitarize the police and commit to racial justice. If you are confused by calls to defund the police you can see some excellent explanations as to why Policing is not the answer. If you are uncomfortable with blanket statements that all cops are in league with or actively white supremacists it still makes sense to "defund" them. The generous read here is that we have asked police to do far too much, and we should minimize their responsibilities and train them far better to do far fewer things. If this seems absurd to you I encourage you to spend some time on this website:
